Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry sheet, thawed
- 2 medium Granny Smith apples, cored and sliced thin
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 large egg, for wash
Instructions
- Prep: Preheat oven to 400°F. Line baking sheet. Toss apple slices with brown sugar and cinnamon
- Assembly: Roll pastry, cut into 4-inch squares. Add apple mixture and cheese to center. Fold corners to seal
- Finish: Brush with egg wash for golden color
- Bake: Bake 15-20 minutes until golden brown and puffed
Notes
- Keep puff pastry cold while working – warm pastry becomes difficult to handle
- Pat apple slices dry after seasoning to prevent soggy bottoms
- Press corners firmly to prevent filling from leaking during baking
- Score pastry lightly around edges for extra puffiness and visual appeal
