  • 1 (5 oz) box instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1½ cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 box vanilla wafers (about 12 oz)
  • Whipped cream or meringue (optional for topping)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes, until it thickens.
  • Add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
  • In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then gently fold into the pudding mixture.
  • In a 9×13-inch dish, layer the bottom with vanilla wafers, followed by a layer of sliced bananas.
  • Spread a layer of the pudding mixture over the bananas.
  • Repeat the layers (wafers, bananas, pudding) until the dish is full, finishing with a layer of pudding.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours before serving. Top with whipped cream or meringue, if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, use ripe but firm bananas to prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • Add a splash of banana liqueur for an adult twist.
  • This pudding can be made the night before, allowing the flavors to meld perfectly.
