Description
A delicious chocolate and peanut butter banana bread that combines the classic buckeye candy flavors with moist, tender banana bread for the perfect sweet treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 medium ripe bananas
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Prepare: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease 9×5-inch loaf pan thoroughly
- Mash bananas: In large bowl, mash ripe bananas until slightly chunky texture remains
- Mix wet ingredients: Stir granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs into mashed bananas until combined
- Combine dry ingredients: In separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, salt, cocoa powder, and chocolate chips
- Fold together: Gradually fold dry ingredients into banana mixture until just combined
- Add peanut butter: Gently swirl peanut butter through batter without overmixing
- Bake: Pour into prepared pan, bake 60-70 minutes until toothpick comes out clean
- Cool: Cool in pan 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack
Notes
- Use bananas with brown spots for maximum sweetness and easier mashing
- Don’t overmix the batter as this creates tough, dense bread instead of tender texture
- Warm the peanut butter slightly for easier swirling and better distribution
- Store covered at room temperature for up to 4 days, or freeze wrapped tightly for up to 3 months
