- 1 rib Celery, finely chopped
- ½ Green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 lb Ground chicken
- 3 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- ½ cup Crushed tomatoes
- ½ tablespoon Brown sugar
- ½–1 teaspoon Hot sauce (optional)
- ½ cup Heavy cream
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
Instructions
- Prepare base: Melt oil and butter in large skillet over medium-low heat
- Cook vegetables: Add onion, celery, and bell pepper. Cook 7-8 minutes until softened
- Brown chicken: Add ground chicken, breaking up as you cook for 5 minutes until color changes
- Add seasonings: Sprinkle Cajun seasoning and minced garlic, cook 1 minute without browning garlic
- Build sauce: Add crushed tomatoes, brown sugar, hot sauce, and heavy cream. Mix well and reduce to low heat
- Simmer: Cook 15 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking
- Season and serve: Taste and add salt as needed. Toast buns and serve immediately
