Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium butternut squash (2 cups cubed)
- 2 large yellow onions
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
- 4 ounces goat cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set oven to 400°F (200°C) and line baking sheet with parchment paper
- Caramelize Onions: Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions, cook 15-20 minutes until golden brown
- Cook Squash: In second skillet, heat remaining oil. Sauté cubed butternut squash 10-15 minutes until tender

- Assemble Tart: Roll puff pastry on prepared baking sheet. Spread filling evenly, leaving small border. Top with crumbled goat cheese

Notes
- Cook onions slowly over medium-low heat to develop deep caramelization without burning
- Cut butternut squash into uniform pieces for even cooking and professional presentation
- Keep puff pastry cold until ready to use for optimal flakiness and easier handling
- Let tart rest 10 minutes after baking for easier slicing and better flavor development
