Description

A delicious and elegant tart featuring sweet caramelized onions paired with creamy goat cheese in a crispy tart shell, perfect for appetizers or light meals.


Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 medium yellow onions, sliced
  • 6 oz soft goat cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Set oven to 375°F (190°C) and allow to fully preheat
  • Start Onions: Heat olive oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden brown (10-15 minutes)
  • Season and Finish: Season with salt and pepper, then add balsamic vinegar. Cook for additional 3 minutes
  • Assemble Tart: Transfer caramelized onions to tart shell and evenly distribute crumbled goat cheese on top
  • Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown around edges
  • Finish and Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with fresh thyme, and slice into wedges

  • Slice onions uniformly for even cooking – aim for 1/4-inch thickness
  • Don’t rush the caramelization process – medium heat prevents burning while developing flavor
