A delicious and easy recipe for caramelized onion spinach quiche that you’ll love making at home.


Ingredients

  • 1 crust Pre-made pie crust
  • 2 cups Fresh spinach
  • 2 onions Large sweet onions
  • 4 eggs Large eggs
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • To taste Salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare Oven – Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease your pie dish thoroughly
  • Step 2: Prepare Crust – Roll out the pie crust into the greased pie dish, trimming excess edges
  • Step 3: Caramelize Onions – Heat olive oil in skillet over medium heat; add sliced onions and cook until golden brown (15-20 minutes)
  • Step 4: Add Spinach – Add fresh spinach to the skillet and sauté until wilted (about 3 minutes). Season with salt and pepper
  • Step 5: Make Custard – In a bowl, whisk together eggs and heavy cream; stir in shredded cheese until well combined
  • Step 6: Assemble – Spread the onion and spinach mixture over the pie crust, then pour the egg mixture on top
  • Step 7: Bake – Bake for 30-35 minutes until set and lightly browned on top

Notes

  • Don’t rush the onion caramelization process – low and slow cooking develops the best sweet flavors
  • Squeeze excess water from cooked spinach to prevent a watery quiche filling
  • Let the quiche rest for 10 minutes after baking for easier slicing and better texture
  • Can be prepared 24 hours in advance – cover and refrigerate, then bake as directed
