Description

A delicious and easy recipe for classic cannoli squares that combines the beloved flavors of traditional cannoli in a convenient square format, perfect for serving a crowd.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preparation: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease baking dish with nonstick spray
  • Make Dough: Mix flour, granulated sugar, and salt in one bowl. Whisk eggs and melted butter in another, then combine to form soft dough
  • First Bake: Roll out half the dough and place in greased dish. Bake 15 minutes until lightly golden
  • Prepare Filling: Combine ricotta, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and chocolate chips until smooth
  • Assemble: Spread filling over cooled crust, then cover with remaining rolled dough
  • Final Bake: Bake additional 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before slicing

Notes

  • Drain ricotta cheese on paper towels for 30 minutes before using to prevent soggy squares
  • Roll dough between parchment paper sheets for easier handling and transfer to baking dish
