Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup honey
  • 23 tablespoons chili flakes (adjust for desired heat level)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Prepare the Infusion: In a small saucepan, combine honey and chili flakes over low heat. Stir gently to blend the flavors.
  • Simmer Gently: Let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes, ensuring the honey doesn’t boil. This will help infuse the heat from the chili flakes into the honey without altering its consistency.
  • Add Spice & Tang: Stir in the apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper, if using. Let the mixture heat for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  • Cool & Strain: Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the honey cool slightly. Use a fine mesh strainer to remove the chili flakes, or leave them in for added texture and intensity.
  • Store: Transfer the hot honey to a clean jar or bottle. It can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 months.
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 10 minutes
