Description
A refreshing and naturally sweet Mexican-inspired drink made with fresh mangoes, lime juice, and water. This cooling beverage is perfect for hot days and captures the tropical essence of ripe mangoes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2–3 ripe mangoes
- 2 cups water (divided)
- 2–3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 2–4 tablespoons sugar (to taste)
- Ice cubes for serving
- Lime slices for garnish
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare mangoes: Peel and dice mangoes into chunks, removing the pit completely
- Blend base: Combine mango chunks, 1 cup water, lime juice, and sugar in blender. Blend until completely smooth
- Strain (optional): Pour mixture through fine mesh sieve for smoother texture, pressing pulp with spoon
- Dilute: Add remaining cup of cold water to achieve proper agua fresca consistency
- Serve: Pour over ice and garnish with lime slices or fresh mint leaves
Notes
- Choose mangoes that yield slightly to pressure but aren’t mushy for the best flavor balance
- Taste your mango puree before adding sweetener since ripe mangoes often provide enough natural sugar
- Chill all ingredients beforehand to create an instantly refreshing drink without diluting with too much ice
- Freeze leftover agua fresca in ice cube trays for future smoothies or to chill fresh batches
