Description

A refreshing and naturally sweet Mexican-inspired drink made with fresh mangoes, lime juice, and water. This cooling beverage is perfect for hot days and captures the tropical essence of ripe mangoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 ripe mangoes
  • 2 cups water (divided)
  • 23 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 24 tablespoons sugar (to taste)
  • Ice cubes for serving
  • Lime slices for garnish
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare mangoes: Peel and dice mangoes into chunks, removing the pit completely
  • Blend base: Combine mango chunks, 1 cup water, lime juice, and sugar in blender. Blend until completely smooth
  • Strain (optional): Pour mixture through fine mesh sieve for smoother texture, pressing pulp with spoon
  • Dilute: Add remaining cup of cold water to achieve proper agua fresca consistency
  • Serve: Pour over ice and garnish with lime slices or fresh mint leaves

Notes

  • Choose mangoes that yield slightly to pressure but aren’t mushy for the best flavor balance
  • Taste your mango puree before adding sweetener since ripe mangoes often provide enough natural sugar
  • Chill all ingredients beforehand to create an instantly refreshing drink without diluting with too much ice
  • Freeze leftover agua fresca in ice cube trays for future smoothies or to chill fresh batches
