Description

Transform a simple chuck roast into the most tender, flavorful meal with just 5 ingredients in your slow cooker. This beloved comfort food requires only 5 minutes prep time.


Ingredients

  • 1 chuck roast (34 pounds)
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 45 pepperoncini peppers

Instructions

  1. Place the chuck roast in your slow cooker. No need to sear or brown it first.
  2. Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix evenly over the top of the roast.
  3. Add the au jus gravy mix on top of the ranch seasoning.
  4. Place pepperoncini peppers on top of the seasoning mixes.
  5. Add butter pieces on top of everything.
  6. Cover and cook on low heat for 8 hours until fork-tender.
  7. Shred the meat and serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Don’t add any liquid – the roast releases its own juices that combine with butter for perfect gravy
  • Use jarred pepperoncini for convenience, but save some of the juice to add extra tang if desired
  • For richer flavor, use a full stick of butter instead of 1/4 cup
  • Test doneness by pulling the meat with two forks – it should shred easily when ready
  • Never cook on high heat – always use low for 8 hours
  • Don’t lift the lid during cooking to maintain temperature
