Description
Transform a simple chuck roast into the most tender, flavorful meal with just 5 ingredients in your slow cooker. This beloved comfort food requires only 5 minutes prep time.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 chuck roast (3–4 pounds)
- 1 packet ranch dressing mix
- 1 packet au jus gravy mix
- 1/4 cup butter
- 4–5 pepperoncini peppers
Instructions
- Place the chuck roast in your slow cooker. No need to sear or brown it first.
- Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix evenly over the top of the roast.
- Add the au jus gravy mix on top of the ranch seasoning.
- Place pepperoncini peppers on top of the seasoning mixes.
- Add butter pieces on top of everything.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 8 hours until fork-tender.
- Shred the meat and serve with your favorite sides.
Notes
- Don’t add any liquid – the roast releases its own juices that combine with butter for perfect gravy
- Use jarred pepperoncini for convenience, but save some of the juice to add extra tang if desired
- For richer flavor, use a full stick of butter instead of 1/4 cup
- Test doneness by pulling the meat with two forks – it should shred easily when ready
- Never cook on high heat – always use low for 8 hours
- Don’t lift the lid during cooking to maintain temperature
