Description

A delicious and easy recipe for mushroom garlic spaghetti that combines tender mushrooms with aromatic garlic in a silky pasta sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz Spaghetti
  • 4 cloves Fresh Garlic, minced
  • 8 oz Button or Cremini Mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Parsley, chopped
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare Pasta – Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
  • Step 2: Start the Sauce – While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Step 3: Cook Mushrooms – Add sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook for approximately 5-7 minutes until golden brown and tender.
  • Step 4: Combine – Reserve some pasta water before draining the spaghetti. Add drained spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic and mushrooms.
  • Step 5: Create Sauce – Pour in reserved pasta water as needed to create a silky sauce; season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 6: Finish and Serve – Toss everything together and sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan cheese on top before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

  • Don’t overcrowd mushrooms in the pan or they’ll steam instead of browning properly
  • Reserve at least one cup of pasta water before draining to ensure you have enough for sauce
  • Add garlic after heating oil to prevent burning and bitter flavors
  • Grate Parmesan fresh for better melting and superior flavor compared to pre-grated cheese
