Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds baby carrots, fresh or frozen
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup, pure maple preferred
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup butter, cubed for even melting
Instructions
- Prep: Add carrots to slow cooker, sprinkle with salt, cinnamon, and brown sugar
- Coat: Pour maple syrup over carrots, toss well, spread evenly
- Cook: Top with butter cubes, cook on high 3 hours or low 5-6 hours
- Finish: Remove lid for final 30 minutes to thicken glaze
Notes
- Choose firm, bright orange carrots for best results. Baby carrots work perfectly, but you can cut regular carrots into 2-inch pieces.
- Real maple syrup creates better flavor than pancake syrup. The investment is worth the superior taste and natural sweetness.
- Stir the carrots once or twice during cooking if possible to distribute the glaze evenly and prevent sticking.
- The carrots are done when they’re fork-tender but still hold their shape. They shouldn’t be mushy or falling apart.
