  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • ½ cup strawberry jam
  • ½ cup granulated sugar for rolling
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • 24 tbsp milk
  • Pink food coloring
  • Valentine’s sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Prep Dough: Combine all dough ingredients in mixer, knead until smooth ball forms, chill overnight
  2. Shape: Let dough rise 30 minutes, roll ½ inch thick, cut heart shapes with cutters
  3. Fry: Heat oil to 375°F, fry 3-4 doughnuts 1 minute per side until golden
  4. Finish: Roll in sugar while warm, fill with jam, glaze and add sprinkles

Notes

  • Temperature control is crucial – use a candy thermometer to maintain 375°F oil temperature throughout frying
  • The overnight rise develops complex flavors – don’t skip this step for exceptional results
  • Fill doughnuts just before serving to prevent soggy bottoms from jam seepage
