- 1/2 box (15-oz) yellow cake mix
- Half of the required eggs, oil, and water (as listed on the box)
- 6 oz strawberry jello powder (2 small boxes)
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 cup cold water
- 3 cups whipped cream or Cool Whip (approx. 8 oz)
- 3 oz strawberry jello powder
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 10 fresh strawberries, halved
Instructions
- Bake half the cake mix as directed in a greased 13×9″ dish. Cool completely.
- Dissolve 6 oz jello in boiling water, add cold water, then chill until thickened but not set. Fold in whipped cream and spread over cooled cake.
- Chill for 1 hour until mousse is set.
- Dissolve 3 oz jello in boiling water, add cold water, let cool to lukewarm.
- Arrange halved strawberries on mousse. Slowly pour cooled jello over berries.
- Chill at least 1 hour (or overnight) until fully set. Slice and serve chilled.
Notes
- Ensure jello is at half-set consistency before mixing with whipped cream for best mousse texture.
- Chill each layer fully before adding the next.
- Use a hot knife for clean slices.
