Sweet Soy Glazed Tofu

A delicious and easy recipe for sweet soy glazed tofu with a perfect balance of savory and sweet flavors. This Asian-inspired dish features crispy tofu cubes coated in a glossy, caramelized soy glaze.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 8 total, serving 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 14 oz block firm tofu, pressed
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced

Instructions

  • Prep: Press tofu with paper towels and heavy weight for 30 minutes, then cube
  • Marinate: Whisk glaze ingredients, marinate cubed tofu for 30 minutes minimum
  • Cook: Brown tofu on all sides in hot skillet for 8-10 minutes total
  • Glaze: Add remaining marinade, simmer until thickened for 2-3 minutes
  • Finish: Garnish with green onions and serve immediately while hot

Notes

  • Press tofu overnight for maximum moisture removal and better texture
  • Reserve extra marinade before adding tofu to prevent cross-contamination
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan – cook in batches for even browning
  • The key to perfect results lies in patience during the pressing stage – don’t skip this step as soggy tofu won’t achieve the desired texture
