Description
This classic Waffle recipe creates crispy, golden waffles that are soft and fluffy on the inside. Perfect for a weekend breakfast or brunch, they can be topped with syrup, fruit, whipped cream, or anything you love!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ¾ cups milk (or buttermilk for extra fluffiness)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the waffle iron: Turn on your waffle iron and let it preheat while you prepare the batter.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix—lumps are okay.
- Cook the waffles: Lightly grease the waffle iron if needed. Pour about ½ cup of batter into the waffle iron (amount may vary depending on the size of your waffle iron) and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually for 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Serve the waffles immediately with your favorite toppings such as syrup, fresh fruit, whipped cream, or powdered sugar.
Notes
- To keep waffles warm while cooking multiple batches, place them in a single layer on a baking sheet in a 200°F (90°C) oven.
- These waffles freeze well! Let them cool completely, then freeze in a single layer. To reheat, pop them in a toaster or oven.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter.
